I'm plotting a Custom Shop 7 string and I need some advice about the neck.
Basically, the guitar will be a 7 string SL2H. With that being said, I need to know what type of neck construction I should choose. I play with DR Tite-Fit 11-50's, 11-60's on a 7 string, tuned to E flat with four or five springs for a very stiff feel. Also, I live in New Mexico so we tend to have less humidity on average but can shift up with the Summer Monsoons and Winter Storms. With all that being said, which construction method should I choose? Standard, 3 piece, or Multi-Laminate?
What does Multi-Laminated offer over the other two construction methods? I have a decent idea of what 3 piece gives you over Standard already.
Is there a tonal difference with Multi-Laminate? I know it would be minimal at best but I'd like to know opinions of people before going thru with it.
Can Jackson do Orange binding and Sharkfins? My original ideas for my guitar were either Black Metallic or Interference but I've been inspired by Shreddermon's new CS and was thinking of going with Black w/ orange pickups, binding, Sharkfins, and logo. They list a few binding colors but Orange isn't one of them and on the inlays they say "call".
On the Ibanez Universe, the neck is not the same dimensions as the JEM just for a 7 string. Is this due to Vai's preference or stability issues? Would a Soloist neck need to go thru the same changes to jump from 6 to 7 string?
