  • Jackson damaged in shipping

I bought a Jackson strat, and while it was in transit, one of the floyd springs ended up under the guitar and put quite a few scratches in it. The guy I bought it from payed for insurance. Has anyone had this happen, and what will Fedex pay for? Do they pay for a refin, or buy the guitar? Thanks, Mark

That would be a packing mistake - not a shipping one.

    Are the scratches exposing wood?
    750xl, 88LE, AT1, Roswell Pro, SG-X, 4 others...
Stilletto Duece 1/2 Stack, MkIII Mini-Stack, J-Station, 12 spaces of misc rack stuff, Sonar 4, Event 20/20, misc outboard stuff...

Why do I still want MORE?

In most shipping cases where you file an insurance claim, they will take ownership of the guitar. So, if a teeny tiny scratch or two is reported as damage, it is likely they will confiscate the guitar and pay out the amount it was insured for. Sometimes they will ask if the item can be repaired and for how much. If you can prove this to them, they may issue you the $ to get the work done.

My thoughts are if that's all that happened to it, call it good.

I agree, this is a packing issue. They wont accept any liability on this.

That's why there should have been a cover over the cavity, or at least some duct tape, to prevent the springs from possibly popping out. It's rare that the spring would pop out, but you never know with the gorillas at FedEx or UPS.
