• Been playing the RR-1 for 5 yrs; Thoughts..

I want to introduce myself properly as the last time I did not, and was rightfully educated in the manners of this forum. I have been playing my U.S.A. made RR-1 ever since I bought it new in '99. I have loved every minute of it and have taken care of it as if it were my child. No one could touch it without washing their hands beforehand. The sheer looks alone have gotten me much attention on stage, especially from the ladies. I have absolutely zero complaints about the guitar and have never second-guessed my large investment in it. My band's music is moving into the 7-string arena and I must regretfully give the RR-1 up. I just want it to be played and appreciated and respected. I hope to hear from you in the classifieds.

sincerely, Andrew

A lot of times when I am offered to try a friend's guitar, I'll say "Let me go wash my hands quick" - I'm amazed that a lot of people imply that's not necesary.

That makes no sense to me So it means a little extra time spent on polishing the guitar, big whoop

At any rate, I wouldn't give up the RR1 for a 7-string. Keep it and just pick up a nice Jackson DR7, or RR7

I don't play my guitars without washing my hands first, I don't play others guitars without washing my hands first, and I request anyone about to play my guitars to wash their hands first.

Personally I don't make it a habit to dig through the trash or my own ass, so aside from incidental airborne germs and natural body oils, if they're clean enough to eat with and not kill myself, they're clean enough for a guitar.

Hey, Newc, I'll be expecting that FB to be germ free bro, you better have disinfected it big time, you trash/a$$ picker, you! Funny story, we were auditioning a bass player. He showed up without his own mic, so we offered him one of ours. He started acting all nervous. He went into his bass case, took out some rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth, and wiped our mic's cover down. Some guys like to practice "safe mic." As for guitars, GET OVER IT!

I usually take a pair of surgical gloves and a bottle of anticeptic to Guitar Center when I go there. You can never be too careful.

do you guys shake other peoples hands before you play a guitar, or does this mean the need to wash'em again?

hey, this washing hands-stuff sounds kiddy to me...
at least where I live, my friends (who are the people I'd trust my guitar to) are mostly clean enough for these things.

man, what do you play when you sweat on stage?
do you go off and wash your hands every second song?

a guitar is meant to rock!!! god damnit!!!
it should be able to handle a little of dirt, if you can call the usual things on your hands that way at all...

I love my guitar too, but that's too much for me I think...

I don't let anyone use my guitar without washing their hands first. Who's what they were doing before. Jerking off, picking their ass, scratching ballsack, etc...

Good point, cause microbes and toxic waste can really survive on steel strings. I'm going to have to completely bathe myself now, before each playing engagement. I already have to bathe myself after I play with my guitar as it is. so if you like, rub your face or something while you're playing, do you have to wash your hands again before you touch the guitar? Keep a washbasin on top of your stack so that you can clean up between songs? Maybe tuck a towel down the back of your singer's pants so you can wipe your hands as you pass behind him. Does anyone here wear a hairnet while they play? I started shaving my head purely because I look goofy in a hairnet.
