Re: Help identifying 1983 San Dimas

lol haha very funny, im not great at georgraphy . So i take it this means that the parts were made in Japan, then put together in the USA? Confusing. Newc, thanks, 1990 sounds about right bcos the store said it was 10 years old wen i bought it a couple of years back .
thanks a lot dudes
also, now that it is 10 years old, and in very good condition, would you expect its value to increases from now on? (ie should i stay away from new pickups etc, or any other modifications that could affect its value)
cheers

I'm not an expert on the pro series. Actually I have no clue about what I'm talking about right now , but I think the parts were made AND put together in Japan

Oh, and I hope you didn't get offended by my last comment, I was just joking

lol, no offence taken at all . So its a jackson soloist pro, made in japan right? cool . seems to be pretty popular (ive been checking out harmony central). Regarding the vaule thing, can anyone with more knowledge on soloists than BK ( ) tell me if I should keep it as it is, and try and preserve its condition, or if vaule, and potential future value, would be affected by changing pickups etc.
thanks

Just play it. It is unlikely these will become sought after. To ease your mind, just save the original parts and don't drill any holes and you should be safe.

The Professional Series guitars will never be collectible in terms of $$$. They are great guitars but Jackson has that "reputation" of being for Hair Metal players, and so there isn't a great demand for them, and there probably won't be a great demand for them where people will be wanting early Japanese-made models like that.
Even 1990 USA models don't bring much on Ebay compared to what they sold for originally, regardless of how great they are, unless it has a rare/desirable graphic/paintjob.

Don't worry about mods decreasing the value. Call your bank or local stock broker for investments, as guitars are meant to be played until they splinter into pieces and cannot be repaired.

cool thanks a lot guys, you're very knowledgeable! , this is a great forum, and i'll definitely be visiting more often . very good point, "just play it", its a good guitar, and plays pretty well for me thru a princeton 112 and soon to be a RAT as well. the reason i asked about pickups is becuase i have never had any experience of after market models such as emg or seymour duncan, so i wouldnt know how they compare to the stock ones on mine. If it helps they are "hot" (is that the term ) to pickup the signal from another guitar a metre away, and when a remote control is placed nearby it emits a loud clicking. any point in upgrading do you think? i wouldnt know where to start
