  • Question about the USA Select Series?

being that i'm rather new to Jackson, i have some questions. first off, i must say i'm happy with my KE2 and KV2.

when I first considered getting Jacksons i of course went to Jackson's website, then i read some weird newsletter by of all companies, FENDER!!! and then furthermore, there was some feature under the WHATS HOT section entitled JACKSON'S USA SELECT SERIES. when i first saw this article i was thinking "you mean this USA Select Series is new? does this mean Jackson never made USA guitars yet?"

so i guess my first question is, when was the USA Select series first made?

or rather, my second question? when were the KE2, KV2, DK1, WR1, SL1 (and its variants) and RR1 first put into production? and my third question is why are all the guitars in the series coded XX1, except the King V (KV2) and Kelly (KE2)?

ok i guess i've asked too much, but anyone who can answer my questions, thanks very much!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Initially, all Charvels and Jackson have been USA made only, and only built to order. Charvel/Jackson was the first custom shop. In 1986, Grover Jackson licensed to Charvel name to Japanese made models, and all USA instruments has been made under the Jackson name. Later, also the Jackson name has been used for Japanese models also. In 1990/1991, Charvel/Jackson launched USA production models besides the custom orders. In 1998, the name "USA Select" appeared first. In the years before, the USA models have been name "USA series" or they had no specific name.

Toby is right, the term "USA Select" is a relatively new name given to the established USA line of production guitars. From 1989 and before, all Jacksons were made in the USA as custom instruments. In 1990 Jackson began issuing the following as USA standard production guitars: Rhoads, Soloist, Warrior, and Fusion. By 1993 they added the Dinky, soon to follow was the Production King V and Kelly. Also the Phil Collen archtop and later Dinky came out.
      "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
      Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."
