Some people like bolt-on necks better. Supply and demand.

Yep, Dinky = bolt-on. Soloist = neck-thru. The older, discontinued DK1 models had only 22 frets and H/S/S Duncan pups. I like the newer 24-fret version with EMGs better, but both are very sweet!!

Re: Question I\'ve wondered about the DK1 Dinky...

way back in the day, jacksons were neck-thru and charvels were bolt ons (for the most part)...when charvel (the name) was made into an import line, bolt-on jacksons became more common...most of the usa selects were based on what jackson had gotten the most orders for (ie: pickup config., bridge, etc.)...therefore, the dinky, being a popular order thru the custom shop, has remained a bolt-on...and if it were neck-thru, it would be a soloist ...d.m.

Also I beleive the Dinky body is smaller than the Soloist body and the neck is thinner, my Fusion was like that, except the Fusion had the 24.75 scale which I loved, but the neck was way too thin. Jack.

the Soloist, the Fusion and the Dinky share the same body dimensions. All are about 7/8ths of a full-size strat body.

Dinky: "Detachable neck version of the Soloist." It shares all the upscale features of the through neck guitars like: binding on headstock/neck, ebony boards, Duncan/EMG pickups, Floyd, graphics, etc. But you have the convenience of a bolt on. Look at all the finest players who could play any guitar they want yet still choose bolt ons: EVH, J.E. Lee, Warren DiMartini, George Lynch, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, SRV, etc.

Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

The thing I like the most about the DK1 is the raw/tung-oiled neck.
