Yup - that broken-head Roswell from Ebay arrived just now - and man, talk about a clean break!
Actually, it's 3 clean breaks

Yeah, this one's going to the pros at GMW (unless I can get a deal on having a new neck made for it)

If GMW is too high, send it to Ace!

Ok, now for the gory details! (Not for the faint of heart or weak of tummy)

Hmmm. A nice little sneak-peek at Jackson's fretboard-neck construction (little metal pins hold the fretboard to the neck). And you also get a glimpse of Jackson's truss-rod. You budding guitar builders out there might be interested in those facts
You can also see how thick the inlays are

The body and neck are in great shape (with the obvious exception of the head and split fretboard section).

There's no trussrod cover, so I assume the rod was non-adjustable?

Wow! That's ugly! Good luck with GMW.

BTW, so it's an aluminum headstock attached to a wood neck? Huh. Never knew that.

Cool to see how they constructed it. If anyone could resurrect that neck, it would be GMW.

Re: RSW014 is in Dr Newcenstein\'s Lab

Just got a reply from Lee Garver at GMW - they won't accept it for repair, and didn't give me a quote for a totally new neck using the original head (like I asked for). He recommended I go to Jackson with it but the wait would be long.
I emailed KEvil as well - maybe he can get me a hook-up.

Hey, where's McD? May as well go door-to-door til I find the right one

Hey Newc, what will you do if you can't find anybody to do the work? I am surprised that GMW turned it down.

Wow! Good for you! You took a risk and it paid off! Glad to hear it is going to be an easy 'fix'. Was the price of the neck comparible to the repair cost? Ofcourse having a new neck is way better, I just was curious.

The guy I bought it from said he was quoted $500 for the repair by a guy near him, and the replacement neck Kevin's got is way less than that
