• My new Jackson #6057 arrived, pics inside!

Well, here she is.. San Dimas Plate #6057, in good to excellent condition with a few little chips here and there.. But hey for $332 shipped, I ain't complaining.. Sun was lower than I wanted, so the pics kinda turned out dark.. but that maroon/burgundy color is hard to capture anyway..

She's got to go into the shop though, it's got a dead fret around the 15th.. I can't find the reason.. I checked it with a straight edge and I don't see a high/low fret.. Neck is straight and I tried hammering the fret back in.. did some good, but it's still not right... I'm thinkin' a level and crown for it anyway since it's got some playwear on the first couple of frets.. If they can just fix the one that's messed up cheap, I'll do it that way.. but I got it cheap enough that I don't mind putting a little $$ into it..

Looks sweet dude! Good deal. Definitely looks like an ebony board to me.

Well after pulling it, there was no DPXXX designation on it.. just the Dimarzio and Made in USA.. but Shreddermon thinks (and I concur) that it's a Distortion.. I seem to remember the specs of a Distortion being chrome double row allen head pole pieces.. It's pretty "peppy", but I'm gonna have to play around with it a bit more before I decide if I like it or not..

Looks like ebony to me. And, yep, that still looks like a super distortion. I could be wrong, though.

Sweet score, dude. I dig the color. Cool, and not too common.

                  Congrats!

I didn`t see it or maybe I am blind, but does Jackson still offer teh Marron/Burgandy color, that is a fantastic color Jack.

You can still get black cherry - isn't that pretty close?

I thought of Black Chery also, but BC has sparkle finish and that one there looks just like regular Maroon/Burgandy, hmmmmmmmm, anyone else know? Thanks-Jack.

yeah, black cherry is a good bit darker, the charvel basses that i have with that finish almost look black until the light hits at the right angle. i'd have to say you did good on that one even if you have to spend a little on fretwork

Thahks for all the cool replies!!

Actually, I'm not going to have to bring it in now for any kind of repairs.. Which makes me happy.. When I was looking at it the other night, it was kind of dark where I was and with that black board and a little bit of grime in the creases on the finger board (teach me to work in a dimly lit area ).. I couldn't see the 15th fret was raised ever so slightly in the middle.. Hardly enough to even notice in good light and in the conditions I was in, it was darn near impossible to even see it with the straight edge... Well anyway, I saw that the next day in better light.. The first time I tried to hammer it down, I used the butt end of a screwdriver and it did seem to help, but not cure the problem... So when I saw that a raised fret was the problem and it was being stubborn, I pulled out the "big guns" and after carefully padding the fret so it wouldn't get damaged, I whacked it good with a REAL hammer several times and got it to seat.. So, no more buzz!! Got the action down nice and low now, and she's playin' like a champ. But the jury is still out on whether I'll keep that pickup in it.. I've got so many here to choose from, I think I'm just gonna start experimenting..

BTW, anybody have any idea what kind of wood they used in these things... I'm guessing probably Alder.. But I suck when it comes to I.D.ing wood types.. I know Maple and Mahogany when I see it, and that's about it.

                              Thanks!!
