Several DiMarzio models have the dual rows of hex polepieces--could be a PAF Pro, as well. But the SuperD is probably the most likely, since it seems to be the most common.

Yeah, those are the likely types used, but anything is possible. I had 6248 (Ferarri red with lightning) and it had a northern ash body. Boy it was HEAVY!

Thanks there, Rattlehead.. How's my baby doing?? I hope your taking good care of her, and taking her out and giving her a good thrashing every once in a while! I miss that guitar, but I'm sure she went to a good home..

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">This guitar seems really heavy to me too (weighs in at about 8 Lbs.).. When I first picked it up out of the case, I honestly thought it must be Maple, but the grain that's showing in the neck pocket doesn't look like Maple to me.. Doesn't have the grain pattern.. But doesn't really look like Ash either... But as I had said, I'm an idiot when it comes to I.D.ing wood...

Look in the controls routes and other non sanded and polished areas. If you see the paint sunk into the grain, then there is a clue. On my guitar I only could tell from a huge chunk of missing paint on the edge revealed open pored grain in the wood that was grain filled before finishing.

Hey, if it's grain filled... would it look really white under there.. There was a chip on the edge of the guitar when I got it, almosted looked like it had body binding... it was so white. I just figured it was primer or something like that. I took off the control cavities and looked in there, the trem cavity looks like it's rough.. but it's more like stuff under the paint. there is that one spot where they stamp all the info about the guitar that is just cleared over and it's smooth there..

The grain filler only leaves a color in the grain pores (unless it had a stain mixed in with it). The chip I had seen in my guitar had a whitish tint, but was just in the pores of the grain. The guitar had a white primer, which I see on most all guitars. Some of my older San Dimas era guitars have a gray primer coat rather than white.

Here is an example of grain fillers on mahogany. The resonator back on the left was sealed then filled with a neutral color filler. The one on the right I used a filler with a stain component on the raw wood.
