• Which USA's came with Oiled necks?

kind of curious.

I see every once in a while a Jackson USA neckthru with a oiled neck.

Id love to have that on a future Jackson guitar. IIs it a "special limited run" type deal they do, or can dealers get them upon request?

I talked to Mr Easton at Easton guitars and he said he could do the labour and oil it for a decent fee. But im not sure if that would kill the value or not. As well, hurt reliability (twisted neck down the road?)

I keep having this image of a trans green SL2H with an oiled neck sitting in my room

Then just get a trans-green DK1. Pretty damn near the same thing, but bolt-on oiled neck. EMGs, too.

From the USA Select models, the bolt-ons (DK1, PC1) come with oil finished necks, whereas the most neck-through models have painted necks. Afaik, the WR1 also has an oil finished neck.

On custom orders, you can have the neck finish you like. I think the most bolt-ons are ordered with oil finished neck.

Doesn't the current Warrior WR-1 come with an unfinished neck?

I believe some of the new Warriors had painted necks as well as oiled. Same for the SLAT models and the XTRR when that was made.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As far as I understand the Jackson terminology, unfinished means oil finished.

Yep. Unfinished = oiled.

And re: those guitars mentioned by Toejam, some of the first few of those models had painted necks, but they were changed to oiled necks shortly after production began. If you order one now, it will be oiled.

ahhh.

Well, KEvin let me know he has a EDS WR1 with an oiled neck *drool*

But, Im a soloist kind of guy. Just the basic sueprstrat style that sounds and looks good in any situation. As well, I really like the Solosit neck profile. Both USA's that I owned (2001 SL1, and 2002 SL2H) had neck profiles that I REALLY liked and played well on.

I have an early 90s USA Jackson Fusion and it has an unfinished neck, and i wish it was painted or clear coated, I don`t care for the oiled neck feel. I guess I never played them before and am used to painted necks or at least clear coated. Jack.

I feel the same, I prefer the feel of my satin import necks to this DK1 oiled neck.

I think we're in the minority.
Go figure.

Re: Which USA\'s came with Oiled necks?

Oiled necks (unfinished is the same) were always offered in the Custom Shop. Almost every bolt on Jackson (I don't speak for the USA Charvels) was oiled. As for the neck throughs, almost every guitar was painted. I own Bret's (SLO100) 1989 Telly in pink snakeskin now, and it is a neck through with factory unpainted neck. By 1990 when Jackson began offering production models, the Fusion and Dinky USA's were all unpainted. No production neck through was oiled. Recently, there have been USA production models without paint on the neck, as mentioned above. Funny thing is: if you like a painted neck, you almost always like an unfinished one. There is NO drag, loss of speed, or the "sticky" feeling some associate with paint. Personally I prefer a painted neck, especially on a neck through. But I love the oiled necks too...

Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

I loved the oiled neck on my custom shop Jackson strat-body I had. It was like a revelation. I had been playing a neck-through Warlock prior to getting the Jackson, but the oiled neck of the Jackson was just a dream. Ever since, I've been a convert. That Warlock was the last neck-through I ever bought.

I love neck-thru's.

My Carvin neckthru had an oiled neck that felt great.

Id like that in a Jackson as I love the 25.5 inch cscale and jacksons neck profile/fretboard

so any WR1 from now on will have oiled neck?

Personally, I don't like painted necks. All my Charvels and Jacksons came with oiled necks. I love the feel of the wood, especially oil finished birdseye maple.
