My latest Jackson custom shop

Just picked this baby up.

Here's some pictures. My camera's pretty crappy, but you'll get the picture. I'll replace them with better ones from my friend's camera soon.

Anyway...

Jackson Custom Shop 1990 #7453
Mahogany body
Quilted maple top
Rosewood neck with sharktooth inlays on maple bolt-on neck
Full binding on body, neck and headstock
Schaller non-recessed Floyd Rose
All chrome hardware
Came with EMG pickups, now sporting Seymour Duncan Little 59 in the neck, Duckbucker middle and Distortion in the bridge
Came with original deluxe Jackson case.

Strange isn't it? [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] The previous owner said this is how he ordered it. Surprisingly, it doesn't slip out of tune.

If the guy ordered a non-locking neck Jackson has necks without the floyd route and wouldn't have to rig up something like that. That's a homegrown job if I've ever seen one. Luckily, it'll be easy to fix!

I just don't get rosewood boards on Custom Shops. IMO makes 'em look cheap.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I tend to agree. If I were ordering it new, it would have an ebony or maple fretboard. However, to many people the $500 (or whatever it used to be) difference is a big thing.

some peolpe prefer a rosewood board for its tonal qualitys when used with certain body woods.

What's it worth? No clue here. I wouldn't pay a dime for it. Full-size Strat bodies give me nightmares. [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] If I was forced to guess, I'd say the $1000 area, give or take a few hundred. [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Perhaps whoever ordered it wanted the ability to put a top-mount Floyd nut at a later time without any modification.

That's definitely sweet! Congrats!!!! [img]graemlins/toast.gif[/img] I like the nut on it, too. It is a little strange, as I've never seen one like that, but it looks pretty cool. Though, if using the bar a lot, you might want to consider putting on Sperzel or Schaller locking tuners to give it a little better overall tuning stability.

BTW, do the two screws on the nut need to come off to access the truss rod cover? [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

Nope. It doesn't get in the way of the cover.

It's even more interesting than it looks. Its actually made of some soft rubbery material. It's soft to the touch and it "grabs" the strings and keeps 'em from slipping. Cool.
