Whats the spec on kirks rhoads.
Is it just a RR1T with EMG pickups or is it a custom?

Can anyone shed some light on this.

I have been wanting an used RR1T for quite some time now but they don`t come up to often.

I'm sure there are many here who could give you a lot more details, but as far as I know it's a mid 80's Stringthru Rhoads, from back in the days when all Jacksons were unique customer-specced orders.

Re: Kirks Rhoads

Most Metallica gear sites call it a "Custom Rhoads", but I do believe that is just the model designation as back in the San Dimas era Randy Rhoads Customs had Sharkfin inlays on a bound ebony fretboard and Randy Rhoads Students had a non-bound fretboard with dot inlays. It has been said that Kirks guitar is a 1985, which makes sense as James had a '85 King V, they probably ordered their guitars together. So, Kirks guitar is essentially a Rhoads Custom string through (not stop tail) in black with EMG's.

Thanks for the info guys,

What Was kirk and james Vs made of? wood wise.

One of my freinds saw james use that King V on the master of puppets tour the week before cliff burton died.

They were likely the standard Maple neck with Poplar wings of the era.

i think the neck pickup in Kirk's rhoads is a single coil in a humbucker housing or something like that. I thought it was an 84 custom rhoads. I heard he had to wait a few hours at the Jackson factory for the glue on the nut to dry.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yep, EMG H in the neck and an 81 in the bridge. And he did go pick it up at the factory the day it was completed, he just had to wait for the glue to dry on the nut.

I remember he plays lots of guitars there and one of them sounds good, can't remember which one tough

Very nice indeed. Think i am going to Get min in gloss black.

Is there much of a waiting list on these as it is a limited prodution model?
