I REALLY like that graphic!

Ultrasonics were made in Germany and are good pickups, but not outstanding IMHO. They were only around a few years.

Do you really like it??? Do you know if this was a one-off or if a bunch were made? It's a '91 if that helps. I've looked in the catalogs but can't find it anywhere. It's got a GREAT neck. The metallic burgundy or whatever it's called; I'll put a JB in as I figure it'll sound better than the Ultrasonic. Not sure what to put in place of the singles tho. Any suggestions Jim? Mainly 80's metal, some modern metal, some bluesier stuff, and the ability to go clean and crisp if need be.

what kind of singles are in the '91? the front pickup looks interesting...like an old schaller pickup look

It's a PopArt graphic. I had a Fusion like that, but the white area on yours was blue. There's also a matching Dinky/Fusion/Soloist (only saw the front) and a Warrior - both have the exact same pattern (some were slightly different - those two looked identical).

Fairly rare, and not incredibly desireable [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Many other people here can help you with pickup selection. I am still experimenting. I like the JB/59 combo. I also have a Duncan Distortion/Seymourizer, 59/59, and EMG equipped Soloists. They all sound good. I just don't care too much for the stock Jackson pickups, although, I do believe my '85 Kelly's J-50B doesn't sound as good as my two 1986 guitars with J-50B's. I am happy with those pickups, but am looking forward to dumping the ones in the Kelly.

Now that I have the pic hosting thing worked out, I can hopefully find out some info on a couple of guitars.
This is a '91 USA Soloist (U001634). Aside from being a hideous graphic, can anyone tell me anything about it. Were there others painted like this? What the hell is it supposed to be...other than ugly? BTW, the back, neck, and headstock are all dark blue metallic. This one has the thinnest neck I've ever played on a Jackson. I don't know which pups are in it either so if you have knowledge, please share.

The second pic is of an '87 I picked up. Does anyone know of these Ultrasonic pups? Were they stock? Are they any good? I plan on slippin' a JB in place of that hum. This guitar need to have a lot of the hardware either replaced or cleaned really good. Lots of rust and corrosion. I've ordered some replacement parts from mm2002. I think she'll be a nice player when I'm finished. Thanks for the help. The pickups in the PopArt's neck and middle are a Parallel Axis Stack (n) and a Quarter Pounder (m). You'd have to pull the bridge pickup and look at the sticker on the bottom.

That graphic is cool man! I have NewC's old popart fusion, its a killer guitar and I really like the graphic. Mine is a little different form yours but they are all basically the same, just different colors. If you ever wanna trade/sell, let me know man maybe we can work somethign out. I wouldnt mind having a pair, i mean I AM in an 80s trubute act after all!
