Hi fellas,
So I got a new SL2H-MAH a few weeks ago. Bought it from Kevin Easton. It's Trans Cobalt Blue. It's my second SL2H, I have a "standard" one in chlorine. What can I say about it? Well, some things are better, some not as good as on the chlorine one:
First of all, the neck is thicker. I don't know by how much, I'll measure next time I change strings, but it's noticeable. It's not that big a deal, and I don't know if it's more that what the specs say, or if the chlorine one has a thinner neck than the specs. Maybe they leave the neck a bit thicker on mahogany necks cause it's not as strong as maple, don't know.
The quality of the work is perfect though. Better than on the chlorine one. The fret work as well as the paint job. I noticed that the fretboard has not been dyed and isn't as dark as on the chlorine one. Maybe they dye them only when the board has little flaws and since this one is very good, they didn't need to do it. Not a big problem, I can do it myself, I have the stuff.
I can't really say anything about the sound. The Duncans feel kind of weak compared to the EMGs I have on the other one. I don't have a very good amp either. I might put some EMGs in it, don't know yet.
So now you're all asking for pics right? Well here's your new year porn, pics of my SL2Hs. The Trans Cobalt Blue isn't a burst pattern anymore. That's what Jackson said to Kevin when he asked them about it (cause that's what we both expected it'd be). Anyway, just wanted to share the pics and wish you all a happy new year!
