    Double Rhoads/King Vee

    Looking through a copy of "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Electric Guitars", I came across this picture of Dave Linsk's guitar


    Were there any other KVs or Rhoads with the extra cutaway on the treble side of the body?

      As much as Robbin Crosby deserves the credit for being the true KING, Dave Linsk had the idea first. Romor has it that Robbin was in the Custom Shop and saw Dave's being built. Inquired about one for himself, which Jackson agreed to and actually finished BEFORE Dave's. Whatever the actual history, I'd like to know how the heck Dave Mustaine "earned" the credit for the King V. [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

          Mustaine is a "has-been", has always depended on the other guitarists to cover his sloppy ass, is still pissy about being thrown out of Metallica....I could go on.

          If it weren't for the pioneers such as Robbin, Dave, Rhoads etc. we certainly wouldn't have the cool guitars that we have now and kind of take advantage of.

          Yes, Megadeath had commercial success for a short period of time, but I think a lot of the bands guitar heroics were provided by Alex.

          This is just my opinion, but I hardly think that Mustaine "slays" Robbin's memory or his work in Ratt. [img]graemlins/refuse.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/evilimages/icons/tongue.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/bs.gif[/img]

              Dave Linsk totally fucking destroys Dave Mustaine, and I've always been a huge Mustaine/Megadeth fan. Check out any of the last few Overkill albums or the latest live cd and DVD(Wrecking Everything) and watch a true guitar god. Watch him tear up a fretboard on all the old songs on an Epiphone Les Paul and you'll think he's using a whammy bar on certain things. He even brings out his old Floyded King Kelly with cut-outs on the last couple songs, too! [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] He's a local New Jersey guy that was in a band in the '80s called Zyris (same band that Zakk Wylde was also in) and a couple other bands. www.wreckingcrew.com www.davelinsk.com

                Ok, ok... Maybe I'm just a bit obsessed with Mustaine... But his playing was NEVER sloppy, he doesn't care about Metallica either (let's not even start THIS argument...) I don't think that Ratt was as influential or even nearly as good as Megadeth. And Mustaine isn't a fuckin' "has-been" man! He's coming out with a solo album in 2004, and even Marty (Who's no longer a Megaadeth fan) says it's gonna rock! But I think the point is, we should just be glad that the RR's and KV's exist today, even if whoever got endorsee rights or whatever.

Wasn't he in Megadeth back when they were still playing polkas at high school dances? He left when they changed direction and got a deal. So Mustaine is a sellout. The real polka-heads know the truth, he "went thrash" just to get signed. [img]graemlins/images/icons/wink.gif[/img]

                    He's a pretty decent lead player, but Mustaine is a monster of a rhythm guitarist. LPC, I think you are selling him WAAAY short there. How he stacks up against Linsk, I couldn't say. I've never heard any Overkill.

                    But how it ever became the "Mustaine King Vee" is beyond me. That'd be like Jackson changing the name of the Rhoads to the Hammett. [img]graemlins/evilimages/icons/tongue.gif[/img]
