• Score!!! 2 Jacksons in one week

Ended up with two jacksons after one week.
Man I'm going broke!!!
The first a 1988 dinky crackle finish floyd,h/s
bolt on with a san dimas plate
The other a 1984 san dimas soloist h/s/s with a kahler. (never owned a kahler before)
they say the will not stay in tune but we'll see and it has three mini switches
The soloist is rosewood fretboard and dot inlay?
was this an option? student model? because all the soloists that I have owned were ebony and sharkfin inlays.
I will post pixs in a week both are in transit.
Well I'am off to a gig!!! I will check back in the a.m.

Soloist with rosewood and dot inlays, they are called as Student.

With Shark inlays and ebony fingerboard are custom.

PICS PLEASE!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">To nit-pick further (also to make clear the early naming sitch), the top line Jacksons were *named* Custom (As in Rhoads Custom vs. Rhoads Student). Didn't want anybody to confuse "Custom" with "custom shop", although it is said all the *early* Jacksons were *considered* "custom shop".

Clear (as mud)?

Jackson's Student and Custom models are easier to remember if you associate them with Gibson's Special and Custom Les Pauls - Special has rosewood with dots and no binding, Custom has ebony with better inlays and binding, though it is not necessarily a Custom Order.

The Student Models were just very early Production models, though some guitars were actually ordered with the less-expensive neck features (to save money, obviously).

Kahlers will stay in tune just fine, as long as you don't try to do superdeep pickup-crashing dives.

I really like the Student models. They have a warmer tone than the customs. Underrated models that are equal to the Customs in quality, just vary in spec.
