• Black Cherry help needed....

Guys,
I have a line on a black cherry SL1 but I have a question:
I had a model 5 years ago in what was described as black cherry, but it was more like metallic brown - The pics of this guitar make it look like a dark metallic purple so is that actually what black cherry is?
It's difficult to tell the actual colour of the guitar 'cos of the flash etc, so if anyone has a pic of a black cherry Jackson they can post, I'd appreciate it....
Cheers
Ian

black cherry is indeed a dark purple...however due to paint mixing techniques different ones may look ...ummm...different... ...but all the ones i've seen have been purple (mostly a few model 6's)...d.m.

Yeah, it's like a dark purplish (a little reddish in certain light), and it is indeed a metallic color. I had a Model 6 that was black cherry, and I've now got a Model 5A that is black cherry (which is going to another board member real soon). http://onlinerock.com/services/toejam//fullft.jpg

I would think this pic is a safe bet of what Black Cherry is:

Thanks for that guys - nice looking guitars! (The model 5A looks just like my old one!).
Unfortunately the guitar I was looking at sold before I sorted myself out. Pics are at the link below and it definitely looks more purple than your guitars, but that fits in with diablomozart's paint mix theory....

Ian, are you sure that's black cherry? Damn, maybe the paint mixing can be off. Still looks pretty sweet, though.

Also looked like a rosewood board on that one.

The guitar at the eBay link was described as Black Cherry, but I thought it loked like a metallic purple too....
