• San Dimas Jackson #3510 In Da' House!!

Hey gang:

I just scored big time

I bought a Jackson, San Dimas plate #3510, white body, bolt on rosewood neck w/sharks, Kahler Pro, 2 hum with single volume and 3-way switch w/Charvel Gray Safecase for $500

Some idiot replaced the pickups with EMG Selects over the original pups, why, I can't even begin to imagine

I found it (actually, Krista found it, I missed it ) in a guitar shop in Greenville NC. I picked it up and just about shit when I seen the San Dimas plate.

It is filthy for right now, and the action could grate cheese, but I am going to disassemble it and clean it up and work on the Kahler to bring it up to speed.

I am going to take off the neck and see what/if anything is written in the pocket and on the neck.

I am stoked!! This is my first San Dimas find, and for the price woah

According to the serial # chart, it was made in 1984.

Please, any additional comments, advice, what to look for etc. is welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks.

Now off to work on the kid

comments? Pics, Pics, PICS!!!!!

Sounds like a Model 3 body with a Model 4 neck and a SD plate.

But seriously, congrats! It sounds great. I love finding sleepers like this. The bad action and grime probably kept a lot of people away until someone who knew what they were looking at came along. A couple of bucks and some elbow grease later, and you've got yerself a great axe!
Hail yesterday

More info, for those into the San Dimas guitars who have the experience I don't have.

The work order number appears to be #2629, and the date written into the neck pocket seems to be 12-18-84.

VG, this is a Jackson bro, no model stuff

I still can't believe I scored this for $500

LPC,
Nice score! Did you say it's definitely a Jackson and not a Charvel? I have Charvel bolt-on 3650 and Jackson bolt-ons 1077 & 1255. The Charvel is that minty fresh candy red strat. The Jacksons are WarriorX7's gorgeous candy red explorer from 85/86 and 1255 is a bengal strat from 86. I love these SD guitars. I have some others that are neck thrus but the old bolt-ons are so freakin' cool! Send pics when you get her ready.

If it's a Jackson San Dimas plate (as opposed to a Charvel San Dimas plate), then that S/N would actually make it an '87-'89 Ontario built w/ "leftover plate". But still a good find! I love those early Ontario axes.

Jackson logo, 3510, and 12/84 all make no sense whatsoever. Me thinks it's a parts guitar. Could be a Charvel body. Any numbers on the neck heel? Is the neck plate Jackson or Charvel? Careful which chart you're lookin at, too.

That's why I asked whether it was a Jackson or Charvel.....I didn't want it to look like I was saying that the guitar was any less cool if it was an Ontario. I tried to use mine as examples in hopes that he meant it was a Charvel and not a Jackson. Either way, Ontario or SD, if it's a legit guitar, and nothing here says it aint, it's probably still a great score. I think he gave the work order number above. Maybe somebody who's more familiar with them can give an approximate year.

Tom, I'm probably about as familiar with these as they come. But the w/o is not much help with these. The s/n and date on the body don't match. That plate would be about 87-88. I bet the plate matches the neck and with that date penciled in, it adds up to be a Charvel body.

Re: San Dimas Jackson #3510 In Da\' House!!

Here are some preliminary pics of the new Jackson.

Krista and I looked at the neck, and we have both agreed that it says 12-18-97 (oh well, still a 17 year old guitar). The work order number 2629 is on the neck, inside neck pocket, and also inside the Kahler route.

I don't think it is a mutt, I think it is original except the pups (I want to rip this guys head off for doing that).

Sorry about the misinformation on my part while looking at the chart. I was rather excited about the guitar and in my exhuberence I mis-read.

The neck is fucking incredible on this puppy!! I have to get some steel wool and clean it up, but it is sweet. I cleaned/polished the fingerboard last night and it looks great now.

Maybe I am wrong.... but nothing about that guitar says San Dimas at all with the exception of a plate which from the serial # puts it in at one of the old plates that they started using way after the move across the street.

Cavity route is Ontario.... Tuners.... Logo...
What I think you have there is an Ontario Guitar that was one of the ones that Jackson started using the leftover SD plates. Very cool axe and a fair price for it though. Cool matching HS and it looks like it is in really nice shape. Maybe the 4's are really 9's....

According to the chart this is in fact a 1987 Ontario made bolt on with a leftover SD neck plate. You a re right with the 7's

Cool score LPC

Aside from the fact that the very last Jackson bolt-on made in the San Dimas facility was #1505
