My guess:
V=Volume
M=Mid boost
T=Tone
5W=5 way switch

Yeah Stuka, plausible suggestion there. The guitar was in fact equipped with a circuit board and a 9V battery (now taken out).

Cool, my 87 Soloist has te following in the trem cavity.
SM
0966
VT3M
NAMM (upside down in texta)
Ferrari Red w/ Trans Flames.
I know what the Ferrari red meant and I guessed the work order number but never worked out what the VT3M might mean but that kinda makes sense. It has the 3 seperate swithes for the 3 pickups and may have featured a midboost but I got it with EMG's installed. I think it may have been a NAMM 87 or 88 guitar?
I will post a pic when I get home.
