• Firebird

Ok folks, it's about time that I start showing off the Firebird. Ordered this beauty in Feb 2002 and it arrived in May 2003. Mohagony neck and body, AAA flamed maple body, ebony board, MOP inlays, Jackson hardware, Duncan JB and Jazz humbuckers. An incredibly toneful guitar.
A link is attached to this post, so if there is a member who knows how to post the image on the board, please feel free to do so, b/c it never works for me.
Enjoy!!

Re: Firebird

I ordered the pickups as such. My motivation for this came from the Ibanez Destroyer which had a covered neck pickup, as I always liked that configuration. It came with the wrong knobs but the custom shop sent over the caramel LP style knobs I ordered, problem is that I cant get these off. Seems like they are glued on to the "stems" of the pots.

Wow, KILLER top on that one! Congrats.

For those of you who don't like Jackson Firebirds or have not played one...they are truly in class by themselves as far as playability & tone.

Hard to explain but they are just different...more like a Les Paul than a Jackson....but with the class & quality of a Jackson!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The shop made a mistake with the knobs and sent me the correct ones which are amber LP knobs. Problem is I cant take the knobs off for fear of damaging the top. Something tells me that they glue the knobs onto the shafts of the pots.

Unfortunately, no more Firebirds from the shop, otherwise I would have ordered a sister for this one.

Toejam, I would have posted pictures sooner but I have been away from home for 6 months. Just trying to catch up with everything.

No prob. As for the knob being on too tight, I had that problem on a few guitars and they weren't glued on. See if you can gently get a spoon under there and pry them up, or maybe a small piece of string or dental floss wrapped under and just pull up really hard.

take a tshirt and wrap it tightly around the bottom of the knob and pull up on them, it takes a few attempts, sometimes, but that's a safe way to do it. sweet guitar, i love them birds!
