I've looked it up and found that it's a 1982,but so far that's all I know. What I'd really like to know,IF it's possible,is what color or paint scheme this guitar originally had from the factory in San Dimas.Because what it looks like now is someone puked paint on it. Apparently someone decided to try and "marble" a paint job on it.
I'd also like to know what set-up it came with.It currently has 3 humbuckers,1 volume,5-postition blade switch, black Original Floyd Rose, black locking nut,and black tuners. The 3 humbuckers are actually 2,as the middle one is just the covers and are being held in by duct tape!AARRGGHH!! So I'm not sure if it was factory or added later by the moron who puked the paint.Would it also be possible to find out what brand of pickups this came with originally?

Thanks,
Rory

...and here's a pic!

So, is this a USA Dinky?
Rory, does it say Made in USA on the headstock?

Ron...if you look at the first pic you can see something beyond the "Jackson" logo.

Yeah, I blew it up but the resolution just isn't there. I didn't want to go just by the neckplate, cuz this thing is so beat!

It's definitely a Dinky though. Even with the OFR I hesitate to say it's a USA for sure. Still, for $80 with case, that's a pretty good deal, even with the "crack-addled router & sanding job"

Check out the visible truss rod!
The home-made routing!

Aaaah! The Fabled Road Warrior Finish!

Did any imports ever have a rear-mounted nut? I'm guessing it's US.

man, that truss rod is scaring me!

For $80 I'd buy it!

If thats a Jackson body, I'll eat my hat. Look at the shape of the cutaways. Look at the control cavity. That ain't no Jackson.

Re: Rory\'s $80 pawnshop score

I just have to say to you guys that like the paint job need to put down the crack pipe and step away slowly...LOL!
if it looks like a run in the paint?..it IS a run in the paint.it's disgusting.lol
as for the truss rod showing?it shows but not as badly as it looks.some of what you're seeing is just wear.i've had the guitar looked over and set up professionally by someone i trust and he said it's not hurting anything.
as for the headstock,YES it most definitely says Made In the USA!!
and as for billZ giving his left nut for the backplate? NOT A CHANCE IN HELL!! LOL
i'm just glad i took the chance on it and bought it when i did.
ok,so where do we go from here?is it an '82 or an '86? or what?and where the hell am i going to find out what this axe looked like leaving the factory?
i want to know this so i can either have the paint job restored,or give it a custom paint job.
and what brand pickups came on this thing?
Thanks again guys!

Agreed. There's something terribly not right about the treble-side of the body as well.
Either it's been butchered heavily or it's a fake.
$80 for neckplate # 1313, a trem, and some pickups.
The rest is toast IMO.

hey chuckracer....get the salt...
i hadn't mentioned it here, but i have in emails with a couple of the guys.the body has been horribly abused by the previous owner and a friggin router.
that's why i had the close-up pics taken of the body.even the backplate over the rear cavity is fubar'd.it's dented, bent, dinged, and the plate isn't even flat anymore.the guy that used to own it is known for altering his guitars, and NOT in a good way, evidenced by the truss rod showing.

I am with Chuck. What you have there is a USA Jackson Neck and Neckplate. I would pop the neck off and see what numbers are in there. Other than that, that body is in no way a Jackson body.
