The depth of the cutaways is correct, so in order to get that funky shape, he would have had to ADD wood.
I'm still hungry, no worries here. To go one further, I'll bet that's an old Chandler body.
Newc summed it up perfectly. You got a cool plate, a floyd, some pickups, good 90 degree tang tuners. The rest is firewood.

I have an 87' Jackson Dinky with plate ##3510...and this body doesn't even come close to resembling it. The horns look weird...almost like a Ibanez cutout....or perhaps JB Player or Samick [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

It can't be a 82 dude...no way possible. It is a 86 (at least the plate is a 86) from a San Dimas Jackson.

I meant Horns would love the plate as he is our resident Satanist here...and his profile has 1313 Mockingbird Lane listed [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I think that for $80, you did OK...the parts will make that....as for the neck with the truss rod showing [img]graemlins/brow.gif[/img] I can't see how that could be a "good" thing [img]graemlins/refuse.gif[/img]

It may be legit, but I have serious doubts...pull off the neck and see if there is a stamp or dates. My Dinky had the numbers on the neck, neck heel pocket, and the cavity for the Kahler (all identical [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] ).

I think ultimately what you have is a abused parts mutt.

It doesn't appear to have a recessed trem sring cover plate route.

Even if the body was real by chance, it is scrap now. The neck, neckplate, tuners, bridge, and pickups are worth more than what you paid.

i don't care how ugly or abused it is...i would never smash a guitar.i find that absurd,and a waste of a an instrument.maybe YOU can afford to do so,but i look at it like...what about the guys/gals who can't afford one?i know what it's like to go without a guitar.i've had 2 stolen,lost 1 in a pawn shop,and went without ANY guitar for like 3 yrs! as for it being an "I-been-had",a Kramer,JBPlayer,or a Samick,it is none of those either.I own a Kramer,may be purchasing a JBPlayer,because it's cheap,and i own an "I-been-had".Plus i just acquired a Charvel and will pick it up thurs. night this week.
as for my Jackson being a piece of crap,an abused mutt,or anything else you guys have called it,it plays better than my "i-been-had",comes damn close to playing better than my Kramer,plays better than several Strats i've played,and well,she's got a faster than snot-on-glass neck.
if any of you live in minneapolis,i'd be glad to let you play it and see for yourself.
anyway,once i get the Charvel and get her cleaned up,and praying the necks not warped,so i can play it while i take apart the Jackson, i'll look in the neck pocket and see what might be in there.

For $80, you got a great deal....like somebody else said, you could part it out for more than that...or maybe buy a replacement neck and resurect it properly. Nothing on that body says "hey bro, I'm a Jackson"...the routes are wrong and the horns are wrong.
