Well, as the old saying goes...Sometimes you get the bear...And sometimes the bear gets you. In this case it's a gorilla that works for UPS, and he got ahold of my guitar.
My brand spankin' new Trans Black SLATQH arrived on Friday. I've been waiting 4 months for this puppy. I open it up to find cracks in the neck around the nut, and chips on the end of the headstock.....I felt like crying. So, back it goes. Hopefully, I will be posting pics of the replacement soon.
Damn....my apologies my friend. (I had a guitar stolen by an employee of UPS once).....In this cae, you actually saw the damage which sucks worse....
I hope you get it all resolved and taken care of quickly. Ask them to ship it FedEx next time if they can. They are a lot better at taking care of delicate stuff.
Thanks guy's. It really took the wind out of my sails when I found the damage. I didn't even want to plug the thing in. I will ship it back on Monday, and we'll go from there. I guess I'm stuck playing my Ibanez for now.
You seem pretty calm about the whole ordeal. If it was me...I'd be irate Hat's off to ya. Hope they make it right.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well...I'll be the first to admit "S#*T Happens". I'll save the irate part for later if nessesary. But,...So far...So good. Matt has been really cool about it. He returned my call quickly, and didn't make excuses. He told me he would get me a new one as soon as he could. That's all I can ask. I know UPS doesnt have the best track record when it comes to damaged guitars, so, I'll just wait to see how this plays out. I think I'll change my name to "Saga Boy". Everything is a saga....to be continued....
OK...Here is some pics. The headstock damage is obvious, but you have to look really close to see the cracks by the nut. There is 2 cracks together. One overtop of the other. They are in an arc going up to the left:
I plugged it in, and it seems to play OK. The cracks look like they may only be in the clear, and in the binding, but that doesnt matter. To me it looks like this thing was dropped on the headstock end.
Yeah......that really blows, I sure as hell wouldn't keep it. I guess accidents happen but you have to wonder how many "could" be prevented.
I wouldn't hesitate to send it back either. I'll bet the UPS guys that play guitar send their shit by FedX to avoid this.
