Well, Ive heard "change is good". In this case I think it's true. I posted my Custom Shop order specs a couple weeks back. (Old Post) After talking more with Scott at Vwall guitars, I decided to make a few changes to my order....For the better I think. [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] Here are the new specs:

Oiled Maple Neck Thru (speed neck) 24 frets
Single Hum...Custom Trembucker (direct mount)
1/8" -or- 3/4" Quilt Maple Archtop (not sure which yet)
Alder body Chlorine finish w/ matching HS
OFR w/Chrome Hardware
Ebony fretboard w/ MOP Sharfins and logo
25 ½ Scale
MOP topped volume knob

Scott decided he liked this basic design enough to do a run of 10 of these Customs. I guess there was a problem with the old order I placed, and the LTD dealer run of 12. So, Scott ran the idea of an Archtop by me. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I've never seen a Chlorine Archtop, or a Single Hum Archtop before. So, these should be pretty unique....They will be numbered I guess. I think he's doing pre orders only on these....Dunno, ask him: VWALL Guitars . I'm pretty pumped about this axe. Can't wait! Actually there is a Single hum Arch someone posted here several days ago.
It was from 1987.

Yeah, that would be mine. Love the specs, especially the color. Chlorine is my favorite finish.

I'm with Drsracing on this one - definitely go with gold hardware on chlorine.

Does anyone else find it a bit disturbing that Jackson's limited dealer run program is just underway and it's already forcing people to change their custom shop orders? I mean hello, "custom shop" means "I get what I want" doesn't it? Granted when I finally get around to actually ordering one it'll be something so outrageous that they won't have done it before for anyone but still ....

Chlorine is ment to have gold hardware.

As far as the program goes, I think V-wall noticed that this guitar could sell if he changed 1 or 2 things and could do the program of 12, therefore saving HuntinDoug some dough too.

Yea....I'm not sure of all of the details, but I do know that Scott got out of the program. I think because of limitations on his potential orders. I'm glad, I like the new specs better. And you're right...Gold does sound better!

Just to address a couple items here.

Chrome was opted for on 2 reasons:
There has not been a Chlorine done with Chrome... they've all been gold from what I've seen and what Jackson told me.
And second, the help keep the costs manageable...
(Tho I think Gold would be better as well)

Also, Keeping the pup direct mount so if anyone wants a bezel, its an easy add and for those that do not, there isn't the 4 holes predrilled.

On to the next, the dealer batch limitations are one of the reasons why I opted out of the deal.
A custom shop can indeed be virtually any spec desired. But the 'batch' option was limited on sell price and specs...

I was looking at the numbered issue for my own batch of 10 that has no real prohibitions.
Now if i altered specs on each guitar, they couldn't feasibly be numbered as #/10 they would be more of a one off...

This batch that I am doing is still underway and has not yet been ordered so there is room for subtle changes... But again, the idea is to not get the price up too high in the list area...

I am hoping that I can get unuff preordered on these to make it a reality...
