Re: UPS fucked up JCF-01-13

UPDATE:...sort of. The UPS inspector was here to take pictures of the guitar today. He couldn't believe that the guitar got damaged in shipping, and even asked if I thought it was shipped to me broken. Of course I told him "No", and that Dave Ingram is well respected in our community. The vibe I was getting from the inspector was that he was leaning towards the guitar getting repaired. He told me that UPS would get in touch with Dave within a week with the information on the claim. As soon as Dave gets the info and calls me I will update again.
Thanks you all for your support and advice. It is well appreciated.

Also, it really doesn't pay to alienate the person who holds a lot of your fate in his had. Mostly he's just a person doing his job.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I hear you, man. I was very nice and so was the inspector. What I meant was, I could tell by the conversation we were having that he was leaning towards a repair and not paying outright for the guitar. It is now in the UPS Claim Dept and Daves hands. I have done what I can on my end, since they are really dealing with Dave on the claim.

OK having worked for a shipping company & having dealt with UPS claims alot. its much easier to get a claim taken care of when you ship from your job or some place with an acount that does alot of business. UPS says it must be packed in a NEW box with at least 2" of packing material on all sides. FINE PRINT the package must be able to withstand a fall from 3' & must be able to support weight (i forget the amount) since they stack stuff. believe it or not alot of the damage occurs not by people but on the conveyor (Ron help)belts. if a package gets stuck all the packages after it smashes into it. then some ass hat usually starts smashing that last box till everything starts moving again.

Re: UPS fucked up JCF-01-13

OK, I spoke to Dave briefly last night. As of now, UPS believes that either Dave sent me the guitar busted, or that I busted it after I received it. They claim that since there was no damage to the box or case, that the guitar couldn't have gotten broken in shipping. Of course, we all know that this is total bullshit. UPS is trying to cover their ass. If the package was thrown or dropped(and we all know they get thrown AND dropped), the shock would be sufficient enough to split the wood. Dave is not giving up the fight on this one, and he has gotten other people involved. It won't be an easy fight. We know this. Thanks to all you guys for your support. As any new developments occur, they will be posted in this thread.

What's wrong with UPS? It must be costing them more in man hours to investigate all of this and deal with you and Dave then it would to just pay for the repair.

Sorry to hear this...
I really hope this works out asap.
A 750 XL i got was stolen during transport by bus here in Sweden, and it took me a day of yelling over the phone to actually make them aware of this...
I´m still awaiting word from their insurance company.
My last aquisition went home in my car!

Yeah Stula, that REALLY licks balls man, its insane to think that they would act like this, but alas the monster rears its ugly head (not meant to be a shot @ Ron!!)

Good luck and keep us posted!

If it were me, I think the next time I talked to them I'd say "Well this guitar is worth quite a bit of money, so I think I'll just get my lawyer involved!". See if that moves things along any faster.
