• HELP w/Jackson Warrior Pro!!!!

I recently bought a US Warrior Pro untested, at a price it was practically a steal (almost US$300, in great condition, hard deluxe case included !!), thinking that I could fix some minor things by myself (strings, intonation, action, etc). This beautiful beast came with 3 pickups similar to Seymour Duncan's Hot Rails in it, plus a preamp system, with an ON/OFF toggle switch.

When testing the guitar I found a horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE hiss noise coming out of it, when using the tone control; I changed the old 9V battery for a fresh one, thinking that this was the cause, but the hiss continued. I tried to fully clean the potentiometer but it didn't work. I tried to bypass the whole circuit and using the pickups as passive ones, but then it was completely dead, no sound at all. I tried bypassing the tone pot (I rarely use it, anyway), but it didn't work.

I'd like to know more about the preamp system and general electronics used in this guitars (brand and specifications of this circuit, brand of pickups, because I took a careful look and those are not Duncans ). A wiring diagram would be killer, if available somewhere; any help will be immensely appreciated. If anyone knows what I might be doing wrong, I accept any suggestions.

I wanna put my little monster back to work, so it will become my main head-tearing axe . Thanks!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No such thing, dude. Pros are made in Japan.

and...maybe now you are discovering why it was $300!

J/K -- good luck with it!

How about some pics?!

Look on the headstock. Does it say "Professional" ? That's made in Japan.
Does it say "Made in USA" That's....a huge clue!

Yeah...it's Japanese dude. Sorry to burst your $300.00 bubble....LOL! (just kidding)

By the way..how the hell did you bypass the tone control? The board attached to that control is needed to run all of the electronics in the guitar. It's a JE1400 Mid Boost control. When the circuit is disengaged, it's a tone control...that explains why the entire guitar went dead when you bypassed it. The pickups are Kent Armstrong rail humbuckers (also Japanese made).
What I would do...being that you didn't spend that much bread on it...mod it. Yank that circuit, and put a set of Duncan Hot Rails in it, along with a new volume and tone control....That's just a suggestion from the resident Warrior Freak. I've owned plenty of them...and I do this mod to ALL of them.

Yeah that Mid Sweep thing is ok for about 10 seconds, but then it becomes a useless effect
That horrible hiss is the Mid Sweep.

Great score, by the way - $300 for a Warrior Pro!?!
What color is it? I've got a black one, and had a Red Pearl one.

Anyhoo, I'd go with a JB Jr and Lil 59 in the bridge, then probably a Lil Screamin Demon in the neck as opposed to Hot (Not) Rails

Yank all the knobs and leave the mini-toggle as a kill switch

Re: HELP w/Jackson Warrior Pro!!!!

Um, correct me if I'm wrong here, but late 80's there were some mods that were professional's, made in the USA with no markings on them as such. Also, serial numbers on these pro's were consistent with USA serials...

I think there is/was a Warrior Pro on eBay with the same characteristics...

Yes/No?

Pat...

No such animal. Anything that says "Professional" on the headstock is Japanese.
Otherwise it would say MADE IN USA after the logo.
And finally yes...I am aware of the Warrior on the bay..as I am watching it like a hawk!

I could have sworn there was such an animal... I thought I had a Rhoads back in the day with the same... RRxxxx and Pro on the headstock...

Thanx!

That's a mystery then Pat...
A Rhoads Pro with an RR serial?...hmmm
Don't know what to say on that one...My understanding is, if it doesn't say MADE IN USA after the logo..then it's import. With the exception of a few one-off guitars that didn't get a MADE IN USA decal.

It says "Made In U.S.A.". Is it a real American Jackson?
