Re: GOT A QUESTION FOR ALL YOU OLDER JACKSON GUITAR COLLECTORS

I had a few like that, Paul. The neck and pocket info should help with the details, but it sounds legit.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">87-89. The date might be under the paint covered tape, or in the neck pocket. The tape is protecting what is written in the trem cover.... I have a picture of one of my guitars that had something similar.

This was an 87, all original.

There was no stamp at the heel either.

I have 2 1989 models - a Dinky and a Strat 24. Both guitars have the stamp in the trem cavity area and on the heel of the neck, for what it's worth. And on the Strat 24, the work order number matches between the body and the neck. The other guitar has a strathead neck that wasn't on it when it left Ontario, though it's still a Jackson neck.

Re: GOT A QUESTION FOR ALL YOU OLDER JACKSON GUITAR COLLECTORS

i´m also a bit confused
my new dinky bolt on firecracle(oh my god, the greatest cracle i´ve ever seen, darkred over orange) arrived on friday
and i had to look after all that stuff at first
it´s #5388 and one of these that grover signed on the back of the oiled (and very dark!) headstock
here´s what i´ve found:
trem cavitiy is finished matching to the body
the neck has the big stamp on it, but it´s empty!
the neckpocket reads "Hemila march 17 1988"
is it common to leave this stamp empty, i can´t imagine

I doubt seriously they stopped using the stamps on January 1st, 1990; most likely sometime in 1989, and yours may be one of those.
Then again, peel the tape out of the cavity and see what's under it.
