I string all my floyds that way. The ball end is the strongest part of the string. Why waste it? I leave a little extra length at the saddle end, though, so I can still get a partial wrap.

I had just finished to set up truss-rod, and the screws werent in (now they are [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]
I agree with Xenophobe, the ball ends on the tuner side of a Floyd equipped guitar bug me too. I say neuter 'em [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
