New "Q"....Which is better?

OK...Got my new SLATQH. I've been playing it night & day...definitely a keeper...I love it. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out why Jackson puts plastic pup rings on a high end guitar with gold hardware. So, I changed the pup rings to the gold Stu-Mac ones. I know some of you guy's are Jackson "purists". So, wadaya think? Black -or- Gold? [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

The lighting is slightly different in the 2 pics.

The gold, but only if you can get gold screws for 'em. Otherwise, it looks like cheesy aftermarket IMHO. [img]graemlins/images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

Definitely gold.

I agree with questioning the decision to put black plastic rings on a high end guitar. I ended up putting a gold P/U ring on my PC1, as I know others here have done. I also put gold P/U rings on my black RR5, and put a gold "Budman" RR truss cover on it to finish it off.
Really classed up both guitars, in my opinion.

That is if they are the flat rings I am thinking about.

This is real interesting to me as i have a slatqh in trans black as you know [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Personaly i think you have to be real carefull with gold, i think it can look to over the top and personaly i think the gold rings look like to much. Just imho of course

I will be leaving the plastic ones on mine,its an awesome instrument and the tone is to die for so i woudnt even realy consider changing anything especialy not somethin like the pup rings as they have alot to do with how it resonates.

i must say tho dude if you like it go with it, im one of those people who likes realy subtle axes alot of the time so to my eyes more gold is to much but to your eyes it could be very very different.

oh and man your slatqh has a realy tight quilt pattern compared to mine

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thats why I am asking which is better....I have wondered if the gold was too much. I had a ASB SLATQH that had plastic, and I thought it looked terrible with all that black on a sunburst top.

It needed gold badly!
