thats a realy nice looking slatqh the black rings look a lil odd one the finish with the gold hardware on it tho

i think on the trans black is looks to much, but that realy is just me.

man i so wana buy another slatqh sometime, wouldnt mind one with and oild nec, will have 2 see if somethin comes up 2nd hand at some point

I think I actually like the black rings a little better on your guitar, due to the finish color. The gold isn't bad, but I do agree that the gold screws would like better on Au rings.

Maybe some black METAL rings would look better than the black plastic ones.

I agree that the gold looks better, and this is coming from someone who generally doesn't like gold ANYTHING, as it looks too ostentatious for my tastes.

I think the black rings look okay, but this guitar has a posh, high end look to it, and gold looks "right" on it.

And, with regard to your concern about it looking over the top, it doesn't to me. Taking into consideration the fact that it already has gold hardware, the gold rings don't really add glitz, like they would on some guitars, because while you're adding sparkle, you're also making all the hardware match.

If your going to leave the bridge and everything else the way it is, I would stick with the gold pup rings. I personally think that all black hardware looks better with that top.

Doug the gold looks killer man! I have a trans grees SLATQ-H and now you have me thinking, maybe I will buy a set of gold and see how they look. I never thought about it but your right, with everything else gold, the rings kind of stand out being black, teh gold adds that nice finishing touch!

One problem with making that decision is the pics - one is really light with black plastic rings, and the other is really dark, so the gold stands out more and looks to be a bit much.
Can you snap one with the gold rings where the sun's really lighting up the top?

As for putting plastic on high-cost USA models - they used to use metal, or did they stop using it altogether? Either way, small stuff like that is easily replaced, and as long as they use plastic rings to bring the prices down a bit, or to put more $$ into better tops, I see no problem [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

I dunno...The black kinda blends in with the finish a little more and the gold takes attention away from the beautiful top

I would go with the black ones, gold is kinda too much IMO.
