The previous 2 recommendations are justified and dead on. I would play the 2 guitars if possible and let your ear be the guide. That should be the deciding factor IMO. Then, later on go for a custom shop whatever model with the attributes you like best.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

Also what guitars do u own? If you already have a soloist SL1 or SL2, go for the EVH.

Not all that comparable, imho.
But the magic sentence has been uttered by a person of greater wisdom than myself: play both and choose on feel. You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

I do not own a SL2H or an SL1, I do however have a GX Bullseye RI that I love. I am a little skepticle of shelling out the $ for a guitar with a basswood body. I have always preferred mahogany or alder but the paint job is very cool on the EVH/BY.

I may be in the minority, but I think the EVH is a huge waste of money on what is essentially a basswood bodied Strat. History has shown that signature models do not hold their value at all, so go with the Soloist. More versatile, better sounding, neck-thru construction. If you want an EVH looking guitar, build it out of Warmoth parts.
