Yeah, a Floyd is a little brighter, a Kahler has more mid range meat.

That is why amps have eq knobs. When you're playing with a lot of gain, these differences get blurred.

A DV8 is gonna sound more like a Y2KV, since they're both mahogany neck/mahogany bodies, instead of poplar (KV1) or alder (KV2) bodies and maple necks. More midrange, more girth, less articulate.

What? KV1 is poplar? Are you sure about that?

Yup, I also checked the catalog scans I have to confirm it.

My KV-1 is not Poplar though!

KV1 and 2 were either Poplar OR Alder, same as most other USA Jacksons. They are tonally similar enough that Jackson uses both.

Center? Poplar is the greenish one. KV-1s are speced as Poplar or Korina in the catalog scans I have.

The core, I meant. Anyhoo, I drilled mine for a Stopbar/TOM and the wood that came out of the core was greenish in color.

To my understanding...if its a USA KV and it's made towards the late 90s, chances are that it's alder.

Definitely gave it more punch with the TOM.
