I've never really not played a Jackson because of the paint job.

I've only ever put down a BC Rich gunslinger because of its pink and black crackle

That ugly ass piece of shit dinky you have is way uglier than that awesome black limba guitar could ever be
Though there are a couple spots on the face of that Korina guitar where it looks like someone wiped their ass with it. Nowhere near as ugly as that hideous thing you posted though.

I never said mine looked better, I just said I had it

And large black streaks do not make wood pretty. Technically it's considered figured to an extent, but I've not seen one that looked as good as 5A quilted or flamed maple. Ash has a better grain pattern that Korina/African Limba IMO.

Crackles. Those suck as well, except for a Firebird with a Firecrackle that Dan Lawrence did with a Phoenix on it. Unfortunately, it was later refinished in the ever-so-common black

+1 Any paintjob that I can duplicate with a cheap can of Duron crackle paint is right out IMHO. Sorry, but I don't want my guitar looking like some old lady's garden planter.

Sorry, but I think black with black hardware is timeless, just like a black car with black leather interior. With all that black, the sharkies and Jackson logo just pop off the guitar.

I hear ya, Zebrawood which has smaller vertical black stripes looks alot nicer than that piece of korina (though the back on that guitar isn't bad). Padouk and Goncalo are two other woods with questionable figure. Big black smudges I don't consider attractive either. I wouldn't pass up that guitar if it was a good player though. Unless the graphic is truly hideous I'm not usually that swayed by the looks.

I pass on ALL electric guitars that are not solid black. Everybody knows this already though.

I pass on ALL acoustic guitars that are not left natural. Everybody knows this too.

Hardware color hasn't mattered to me much lately... getting my Shannon has made me a fan of chrome-on-black and getting my Les Paul custom has made me a fan of gold-on-black. Classy!

That was a somewhat atypical example of figured black limba, with really broad black streaks. White ("yellow") limba usually doesn't have much figure at all, and that's what I see Jackson and Gibson using the most. Black limba varies a lot in figure, but the black streaks are generally not as wide as the above example. Part of its appeal to many, aside from the fact that it sounds really good, is that the figure is not predictable at all, like more common tonewoods.

Here's a few different patterns just on Thorn's site.

http://thornguitars.com/018.htm

These two came from the same hunk of wood (note the close numbers):

http://thornguitars.com/011.htm

As they say, it takes all kinds. :^D

I have to agree with Noodles. The sharkies have to be real MOP so that they stand out from the rest of the guitar. MOTO doesn't cut it, and the fretboard must be ebony.

THe black on black on black doesn't appeal to me at all either. Black with chrome hardware though looks killer. I always cringe when I see people "blacking out" the hardware on their black guitars.

AMd while we're on topic, my buddy had a 80's Soloist with a cheese ass sunset graphic and for years I made fun of him for it until he finally sold it a couple months back.
