I'd like to see how well the Speedloader works. If the quality of the bridge is high, I think it could be a pretty cool idea. Quick-n-easy string changes on a FR would be a godsend, in my opinion. I still think that with guitarists being a relatively conservative lot, the lack of tuning keys on the headstock is a big hurdle for Floyd to overcome. But I think a nifty idea would be for Floyd to offer a specialized nut that would allow a guitar to use either the Speedloader strings or convential strings, either by allowing the strings to pass through to regular tuning keys or simply anchoring the regular strings' ball ends.

As for the loss of sustain and balance issues without the tuning key, check out Groove Tubes. They offer a brass plate for strats and teles that attaches to the back of the headstock. An item like that of the proper weight should be easy enough for someone to make and that would likely balance the guitar and hopefully add a little sustain at the same time.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

The principal of the speedloader and the Steinbergers is that major tuning is taken care of by the length of the string. It's just long enough to sound the approximate pitch when placed in the system and locked down. Any tuning is done with the fine tuners.

Wonder how tricky it is to downtune or do alternate tunings on the Speedloader... or "Speedloafer" as Newc once put it.
