My 7 just got finished, but not delivered yet. It's a custom body for my RG-7620, with a little cosmetic neck work as well. Check it out! (DR strings rule, btw)

It'll get DR's when it's done. Hopefully I'll have pics of it within the next two weeks when it's assembled and I'll start a thread to show it off

whats about buying seven strings, strings what companies make em?

Ernie Ball makes a few sets. I use the 10-56 Slinky set, but they've also got the Power Slinky 11-58 I've been thinking of trying. Or you can just buy your normal set of whatever brand strings and get the low B string separate in whatever gauge you prefer.
I believe D'Addario, GHS, Dean Markley and DR also make 7 sets... just check the manufacturers' websites and see.

Jeff Loomis from Nevermore uses SIT's on his 7 string. He uses .10-.52 with a .70 for the low B string. thats why he loves SIT so much, because they make a .70 GUITAR string

they also make light and medium gauge 7 string strings

First that graphic soloist in you pic Screamin is fucking IT, second i played my first 7 stringer and realized it is not for me, sure i could be cool but i am not really into korn or the low B string, I want to master 6 before i take on 7.

It's funny that everybody loves my Nagel soloist but when I first bought it from GC 5 years ago, they couldn't give it away. It went from 1400 to $630. It was in mint condition and at that price< I had to buy it. It is now my #1 guitar.

Damn! I couldn't imagine really using anything bigger than a 58 or 60. I'm happy now with my 56 in regular B tuning; though, it can be a little floppy when doing the Drop A thing.

Re: 7 strings

I use D'Addario 9.5 to 44 set, then I buy a bunch of .56 single strings for the low B. Mine's a EBMM Petrucci, and once I learned to approach it as a regular six string with an added "bonus", it became so easy to get around on.

Re: 7 strings

I had a DR7T for a while and at first did the "typical" Gnu-Metal-type stuff on it, then started using the 7th string for octave-doubling things above the 5th-string/7th-fret E5 and A5 chords, and it really made the bottom end of a given track tons heavier than just doing "chug chugga chug" on it.

DAMN! That Rhoads is cool! Is that an unbound rosewood board? What's the story with that guitar, is it neck through?
