I love mine. It sounds and plays great! The neck is a little bit thicker than my SL-1. String through bridge does not bother me since I don't do a lot of whammy stuff anyway. This is actually the guitar I can play best out of my collection. I am not sure why.

I got mine from a guy on EBay for $1,300. It was in perfect condition with just some light pick scratches that you have to hold up to the light to see.

Anyway, if you pick one up you will not be disappointed.

I have the twin to Dave's SLATQM, this one (and I assume Dave's) is trans-blue:



I've never had tuning problems with this one but I have had some minor string binding issues with other pointy-head Jacksons with non-locking nuts but nothing 30 seconds and a bit of 400 grit sandpaper couldn't fix.

Hi, I'm a new board subscriber. I don't have a Jackson yet but I'm in the hunt for one and the SLATQH, SL2H and the SL2HT are the models I'm going back and forth over choosing. I've only found a SL2H to try so far. I loved the feel of the neck (wow is it wide though), did not love the floyd but I haven't had a whammy in years and years. I found I've developed a pick hand habit / style of resting on the bridge and wandering back and forth out onto the low strings to add slight damping without even consiously doing it. I was hearing the guitar go out of tune while I tried it out and realized what was going on. I'd have to learn to stop doing that if I go for one of these. I've got a Les Paul Custom, which is all mohogany as well, with a maple top and I wonder if the SLATQH sounds much like the LP? Not that it is bad (it is wonderful actually) but I've already got that. So, I've been thinking the SL2HT might be the best choice for me.

Mike Strat...I'm sorry you were not able to access the classifieds on that guitar....we all had to get through the ,"junior", status as well. I'm sorry I didn't see this post sooner because that is my guitar for sale and another board member has secured it for himself.

Regarding playability, tone, looks , feel, construction etc.....as others have said...it is all there. I have 3...soon to be 2 and they are by far my favorite Jackson...excuse me....favorite guitar period. They sound as solid as they feel. While the neck is playable as hell I have to say the SLS neck is the most comfortable with its 24 3/4" scale though but of course...that's just me. I can't honestly imagine any guitar player not being able to appreciate them for what they are. If anybody is on the fence as to buy one or not....don't sweat it...you won't be dissapointed and quite frankly if they were sold on the street for $2500.00 I think they would be a bargain. Hopefully in the near future I will order a Custom shop guitar....it will be an SLATQ w/ a 24 3/4" scale and a unique color....that's it.

I am in the middle of the quote process right now for the same thing.It will also be a 24.75 scale with a unigue color and few other minor tweaks , nothing real crazy.

Let me know what they charge you for that bro....my selling situation is temporary and if a Custom Shop took 1.5-2 years for delivery...hell I could order one now too if I didn't have to pay for it up front.

I considered getting a koa variant on a SLATQH, and the list price was pretty damn high, even taking into account the upcharge for koa vs mahogany its still alot more than original production guitars cost. Its a real shame they discontinued those.

I agree with the price being high.Considering I am not doing anything exotic like Koa or multi laminate neck.It is pretty much a straight forward SLATQH with a AAAAA top and 24.75 scale.I am going to have to think about it a for while.I am not sure if it worth ordering it just to get the different scale lenght.Especailly since I have the Archtop Pros that already have it.

Well, I went nuts on mine and I kinda wish I had saved the money, but I'll be happy when it comes. Mine will be the typical mahogany - 3/4 quilt maple top with a three piece flame maple neck, (oiled, not painted) 24-3/4 scale. dual Dimarzios ebony bound board with a single abalone sharkie at the 12th. I picked an older rootbeed finish with a clear back. I'm almost at the year point. It's due in early 06 and was well over 3k. It'll be worth it (I have to keep telling myself that!) I own five of these beauties. In my opinion they are the ultimate guitar! Regarding the tuning I found that if you have your D,G,B,E string hit the tuning peg on the oposite side (this requires a nut job)it reduces the angle an bit at the nut. This mod made this particular guitar really stay in tune. I will post a picture of my collection if I can figure out how...
