Got it from the seller, so I have to take his word on it. I thought it very strange as well, because it looks to be an otherwise production SL2H (no "custom shop" on the headstock, only "MADE IN USA").
It couldn't be a U serial as they actualy start with UO (the letter O, not a zero), but lets just say it was. Jackson has produced on average, 602 UO serialed guitars per year for the last 10 years. That means this guitar doesn't exist yet.
UO14071, at the current rate of production, would be built in 2010.
For a J serial, same thing applies.
Jackson produced on average, 39 J serialed guitars per year over the past 10 years. J14071, at the current rate of production, would be built in the year 2193.
My guess is, it's either J1407, which means 1985 San Dimas... Not!!! Or J4071 which makes it 1987 Ontario.
Whew... too much math.

Wrong. It is a zero, and not the letter O.

Wrong. By this math that would the serial numbers would be in the 6,000-7,000 region. U10000 was produced in 2001.

Um... yeah.
My best guess: 2005 SL2H, and the person mistyped the J for U. After all, U and J are close on a keyboard. I'm not sure exactly where the serial numbers are now. My last guitar is in the U11000 range, which was in 2003.
All USA made Jacksons with the exclusion of the USA Bolt-ons only have 4 digits in their serial numbers. They are then preceeded or followed by one or two letters.
Edit: It is obvious that Jackson dropped the "O" once they reached the 10000 mark. Jackson could solve/prevent all of this by updating their damn site at least once a year.

Sorry freehill, but you are wrong... it's UO not U0.
"UO0001-UO0852" copied straight from Jacksons own web site.
That's an O, not a zero.

That's a 5 digit number starting with U. There is no letter O. Doesn't matter if you got it from Jackson's site, it's wrong.
See my previous post... the people at FMIC need to get their shit together and fix the info on the site.
My info is based soley on the data they have posted.
And yea... I did screw up the math on the U serial
I only own bolt-on Jacksons so...
My RR1T is U14545. I have had it for about a year. The date on the hangtag is 9/15. Should be 2004, since I got it this time last year.
