KV1 is Mustaine model and has been discontinued.
KV2 is current KV with 2hum, 24fret and Floyd.
Not sure of KV 3 and 4. Import models??

Yep, KV3 and KV4 are both discontinued. They were part of the "professional" series, MIJ. The KV4 was 24 fret neck-thru, and the KV3 was 22 fret and I'm pretty certain it was a bolt-on neck.

Any idea why the KV3/4 was discontinued? Its a shame not to have a mid-level KV out anymore.

KV1 and KV2 differences are Mustaine signature on the headstock or not.
Kahler fixed bridge and Floyd Rose.
Also many KV1 come with LSR tuners.

I think the KV3 would be somewhat comparable to a KVX10, except the KV3 had a floyd on it. I wish they still made the KV4, that was a nice import. Neckthrough, Duncans, matching headstock.

AFAIK, the only set-neck Jacksons were the Archtop professionals / Charvel 750xl...

KV3 was bolt on, Zerb

Jackson was one of the first (if not THE first) companies to offer import neckthrough versions of their USA models. Arbor had been doing Japanese-made neckthroughs while Jackson was still a USA-made-only brand.
However, Arbors basically suck

I don't know if Ibanez ever had a "lawsuit" Firebird, which would have been neckthrough - I know they did setneck Gibson copies and later bolt-ons in the 70s, though, so it's logical to assume that they did a Firebird as well.

And satin chrome hardware, and 22 frets.
Actually it was more of a KV version of the RR3. However it had the Duncan Designed HB102 pickup in the bridge and neck position.

I always wondered what's up with the LSR tuners. Weren't they standard on KV1's ? Not sure on this one.
