  • KV2X - Custom Shop or not?

Correct me if im wrong, but the 10 "KV2Xs" were made in the custom shop, right? I dont see how only 10 guitars would be sent to the production line. Sorry for the absolute noobness of this question!

No they're not custom shop. They were a limited run of USA Select guitars with minor changes to regular KV2s. Limited runs can get away with 10-12, but their changes are only in color and hardware.

I thought they were production model but with different specs.

Lots of "production" guitars are made in the custom shop. Hence, the Jackson USA Select and Charvel USA Standard lines. So was this special run of KVs.

Well USA Jacksons are made by the same people with the same machines as Custom Shop pieces aren't they?

That's my point, bud. Production guitars, but with some special specs. Still made in the custom shop, just like the USA Select guitars.

I know I asked in the other thread, but what exactly does the 18 volt do for the guitar?

EMG Battery power. EMG's are active so require some power. I can't remember the KVX specs off hand but it may have also had active circuitry.

Normally, EMG's are wired with 9 volt, but 18 gives more headroom to the sound.

Yep, makes them seem to be less compressed. BTW, congrats on the KV2X...if I had the cash to spare I would have picked one up myself, they are freakin sweet!

The high E is much closer to the edge of the fretboard compares to the low E.
                              What the hell?
