• Worth to think about? KV1 vs RR1t

hey guys,

I have a KV1. Still with the all brass Kahler 3300.
And I really like that sound, but miss some clearance.
Now, all this Kahler Hate/Love discussions made me wonder if a RR1T ( still have prejudges a Tremolo stealing sound) might sound "better" cuz of its steel brigde.

And of course I'm talking about the black KV1.

Personally, I'd stick with the KV1, but maybe that's just me!

"Different" does not equate to "better". Let your ears be the judge. I personally love the sound of the 3300, and it certainly makes the same amount of sustain as a TOM.

Just do a Kahler to TOM conversion like this:

Don't kill the value of a KV1 to make a hardtail stoppiece... Why don't you get a RR1T and keep your KV1?

Haha, is that a Kerry King signature on a Mustaine guitar?? Kerry is not that fond of Dave from what I've gathered... and then sign his signature guitar.... that's cool!

I know, I thought the same thing when I bought it. The signature is gone now, and so are the half-done black bevels. It also has black dome knobs, and I'm waiting on a black bridge and tailpiece to arrive.

I have thought about restoring this back to original, but finding a Kahler is damn near impossible, and to be honest, I really like the TOM on it.

It's a nice guitar Zeegs!
Good idea getting black hardware all over, that will probably look better than mixing (like I just did on my Model 3 ) colors.

nono, you misunderstand. I defenitly stick to my KV1 with the 3300.
I just wonder if its worth getting a RR1t as well!
But I'm "less-is-more-guy" if it comes to guitars, because the more I play it, the better it sounds.

@zeegler: It has Dave's signature, but where's the slot?

Do you mean the slot for the blade switch? It was filled. It doesn't show up in photos, but you can see it with the naked eye when the light is shining the right direction. When I get it refinished, hopefully it won't show at all. I will be switching the toggle and the volume knob too.
