James KV looks really massed around with. What's that white plate underneath the bridge pickup. It looks like someone had over-routed it or something, and that is to cover it up. The stop tailpiece is much too far away from the bridge. It's a 22 fret as well. Weird.

Coulda been routed for a 3-coil MotherBucker, but yeah I've seen that pic before and never noticed that extra plate under the pickup.

Coulda also been a problem with the pickup itself not being tall enough, or the feet stripped out, so they mounted it on a plate?

Maybe James just got one that had been goofed up in the factory and picked it up when Kirk got his?

edit: Oh I also heard that the V james had split down the middle or something and he never got another because of it. think it was in an interview...
