• Rare Jacksons? Please help a rookie.

Hi I have received two Jacksons over the course of trading and building my collection of Hamers and Les Paul Juniors. I've tried to find information on these two guitars but haven't found much. I came to the experts.

Guitar 1 Scott Ian signature and face on headstock. 5 sting and koina, no finish on the back of the neck.

So, did you want any other info besides the model designation?

IIRC, the JJ5 was only done in 2001 and is Korina, and the JJP was only done for a little while in the late 90s (97, 98, or 99?)

Other than that, you'd hafta ask somebody

Only a handful of JJ5s were made, somewhere between 3-6, depending on who you ask.

yep, that JJ5 was won in a contest by our very own twisteramps back in 01. he traded it soon after. i told him to make it a 6 string, but hey, i'm retarded that way. it was a one-off custom shop model. remember that rare doesn't always mean collectable or high-price fetching.

There's one on the cover of the 2000 bi-fold.

Is the JJ5 missing the low E ala Keith Richard's tele?

It's missing the high e string, because Scott Ian doesn't ever use it, or anything past the 12th fret for that matter.

The one by John is our own Peedenmark7, I traded him that guitar. It was great, but like he mentioned, the nut was a little high, didn't really bother me, though. That was a really nice sounding guitar, I kinda miss it.
