i do not know allot 'bout jackson usa guitars but i recently came across one locally ...and i do not know what model it is
here is the best description i can come up with ..looks like a dinky
it is purple neckthru, hsh with floyd rose stamped trem ...emg hums(one blank -one hz?????) and a single coil ...serial numbers are stamped at the top of the neck ..3-4 control pots and what looks like a les paul style 3-way switch in the middle of the pots ..and it says jackson made in usa on the headstock...comes with the original case as well
this is off the top of my head specailly about the controls
thanks

SL2 or SL2H with added middle single coil, or SL1 with added humbucker in the neck. Would really need pics or more info. Is the fret board inlayed? Logo type? Is the back of the neck finished or raw?

Re: need some help

Sounds like the original owner did some routing as well, or this is a custom shop piece, but that U in the serial number makes me think it's not.

Jackson has the SL1 that has H-S-S or the SL2H that has H-H for pickups.

first the good

now the bad & the ugly

its not stock H-S-H ..someone put a single coil cover in between the 2 emg's and put SCREWS in every hole !!! ...then put some extra pots in and disconnected the stock pots ...left the neck pup
unconnected ...and painted everything piece of hardware gold
but it was cheap!!!

Still a cool score. Do you mind me asking how much it cost?

It was a steal at that price. I'd be happy too.

Re: need some help

I could understand if someone had put a single coil in and left it disconnected, but to FAKE a middle pickup!? What kinda idiot....??

But then maybe the guy used the cover as a pick block to keep the pick from going too far under tha strings - you can get a speed increase that way, but usually only with a humbucker because a single is too narrow.
Then there's the holes/screws to bump into

Still, I'da found a less-invasive method.

Re: need some help

i have no idea why the guy spray painted every exterior piece of metal gold including tuning machines and reinstall with paint still wet(clear coat still good)
there is like 3 tiny scratches on the whle thing
he basically mutilated this guitar

...spent the better part of the evening now and this thing is starting to take shape ...only thing left to get the gold off of is the tuning machines ...thinking i should just get new ones..some new PU rings

i set the black pickup ring screws in the ~fakey holes~
for sh*ts and grins

Looking real good so far. I'd just try to get the paint off the tuners before I bought a new set. It looks like you did a good job on the trem. I'd have Dave make me a black plate the shape of the single and just cover up those extra holes.
