• 55xxx plates endorsee or gift guitars..

I bought a Charvel logod Jackson off eBay a few years ago. It has a serial number 88854 I think... I was told that it was made in a serial number range that was for promotion or endorsee or gift guitars. Is this true? Was their a range of plates in th 888xx range for promotion or endorsee?

It has a Jackson plate with the san dimas address.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

It was for a limited run of Model 88 guitars if I recall.
There is an individual selling loose 88xxx serialed plates on ebay.
Something to keep in mind when purchasing a guitar with this serial numbering.

the Charvel guitar over 88500 were export guitars if I recall. The ones below were USA models. IF it had a charvel logo that confuses things...... I dont remmember a charvel logo's Jackson plated 88 model

Where the hell is tekky?

That would be the Model 88. It was the single slanted humbucker strat with the african ribbon mahogany body and the reverse headstock.

Though Jackson also did the LTD 88 where it was the denim strat with the Reb Beach Voyager-like cut-out behind the tremolo.

Kev is referring to a Jackson plate with the San Dimas address.

If memory serves me.....weren't the plates for the Charvel Model 88's a Charvel logo'd plate with the Fort Wort address?

Not sure, I was just answering his question about the Charvel model.

Charvel Model 88s had an import Ft Worth 4 digit plate... 0xxx

Jackson LTD 88's had a 5 digit USA Plate that started with the serial number 88xxx.

As for a Jackson USA plate with a 55xxx serial, I've never heard of this. Endorsee/loaner/employee/project/second guitars all came with conventionally serialed plates or stamped serial numbers, or would just have a generic plate (in the case of pre-89 pre-AKAI USA takeover (lol) IF the employee didn't want to pay for it being logged (as the story goes)) or possibly no serial number (on neck thrus)...

Hope that helps!
