I finally got a USA Jackson. Serial #u01357
Bought it locally from a craigslist ad
Any information about it would be appreciated.
I am still a Jackson rookie trying to learn about the different models.
I also picked up a charvel model 5 about a month ago.
I don't know if it is USA or Japanese serial #0800806
I think. The first and last digit is hard to read.

Re: Soloist

Based on the serial# that's a 1991 SL-1 Soloist and the Model 5 is Japanese. Not a bad start to your J/C collection. Congrats.

The Charvel is a 5FX (if its neck Thru) One of 300 made.

Re: Soloist

The Charvel is a Model 5FX. Suposedly a 1988
I had heard some Model 5's were sent back to the factory and had the tone control added.
Or did they come from the factory this way?
What is to keep someone from moding a Model 5 into a 5FX?
Is there any anvantage to doing that other than gaining tone control?

Sorry about all the questions but:
Is there some place that had wiring schematics for the SL-1's? The humbucker in mine was wired in wrong. Perhaps it
was swapped out. Aside from it being wired wrong (the black and white wire connected instead of the red and white) It seams that it is wired to the 5 way switch so the first position is a coil tap (Hum to single coil) then the second
position is going to turn on the bridge in humbucker mode and the middle pickup. I know people often times mod there wiring. I just want to find out what is stock.
I changed it to be wired like a strat. Without the coil tap.

BTW Here are my other Jacksons. I introduced myself a few months ago.

Re: Soloist

300 model 5A were sent back an added a single to the neck position some have tone control others don't. Model 5 have H/H, 5A one H and 5FX H/S.
