The AT-1 neck I had reminded me of a PC-1 neck. Not as fat as JCF01, but not as thin as JCF02.

Fusions had the same neck profile as Dinkys, just the shorter scale and narrow nut. Of all the USA Fusions I've owned, none of the necks were as thin as people claim them to be - it was merely an illusion created by the scale and nut width.

You hit the nail on the head. I've got a SL2H that I just love for its looks and vibe. I've played it maybe 10 hours over the last 5 years. Neck is just too damn thin. I just can't bring myself to sell it because I've always wanted a pointy Jackson since...forever. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I've also got a PC1 and the neck is a lot better (still on the thin side). My Strats/Teles all have the Warmoth Boatneck profile (1" thick the entire way) and I find them to be extremely comfortable...yes, even for shredding.

I wish Jackson had a little more variety in their neck profiles as I love their quality.

Jackson AT-1

I've got the oppurtunity to buy one of these AT-1's for $400. Its a Blue Flame top, 4x2 headstock, armstrong pickups, and a stop tail bridge. it's in excellent shape. I love the way it plays... Low action real smooth, no buzz. The only negative aspects I've found are the fact thats it's a bolt-on, and the pickups are a lil to low output for my tastes. The bolt-on i can live with but the pickups will definately be swapped out if I decide to buy it. I guess my question to you guys would be, is it worth 400 even if I'm gonna end up putting another 150-200 in pickups in this thing? If i bought it, it would be a players guitar. Not something I'm trying to turn a profit on or anything. just curious what everyones opinion of these guitars might be. Thanx in advance!

They supposedly only made 30 of these with the 4x2. I have one of them, also have an AT1T with 3x3 and wrap around tunomatic/stoptail, and an AT2T also.

In my opinion $400 for one of the super rare 4x2 would be a great deal, even with having to upgrade pickups.

Hey man thanx for the links. why all these ppl hatin on the headstock tho... jeez. i like it cuz its different. i think its a gorgeous guitar. i guess i should have specified that this guitar is not the one with the wilky trem or the wrap-around. its a tuneomatic with a stop tail or equivalent to a tuneomatic. same style anyway. there were only 30 or so made with 4x2 headstock?

Jackson got nailed by Ernie Ball for the 4x2 design... looked like the Wolfgang headstock.
At least that's the reason I was told anyway.

I think im gonna go ahead and buy it. and ill definately post pics as i do with all my gear on harmony central and other random forums. and that last link you posted mountaindog was dead on cept the one im looking at has a blue flame top. thanx for all the help guys. ur input definately aided in my decision. I would still like to hear more peoples input on these things tho.

P.S. this forums kicks harmony centrals forums ass. alot of the people over there are jerks. and wanna post smart ass remarks in ur threads. instead of actually doing what these things are intended for which is help people out with there questions. Thanx.

As for the guitar itself, I can't say much more than has already been said. Thick neck, thick ebony board, bolt-on, and quite heavy. I picked mine up off Ebay for under 5 bills... a steal at that price.

I had one about 7 years ago.It had one of the best flametops I have ever seen.Awesome cherry sunburst.I really didn't think the neck was thick at all.Mine however never played very well.I wanted to love that guitar but it never played like a Jackson should.

I have been looking for one of those, yours is an AT1-T for the Tunamatic, most are AT1`s with the Wilky. One day I will find one!! Jack.
