  • SL2H/weight?

Does anyone know what the average weight of a Sl2h is. I held one over the weekend and it felt almost too light. I like a rather heavey guitar and this just wasn't it. Maybe someone here who owns one could chime in. Thanx!

Did you really need to post it 3 times?

Technically, he didn't. There's a problem technical problem with the board today.

I have a 2005 SL2H in Natural, and it weighs a little more than most SL2H`s I have ever held and that is a good thing!! Jack.

Does the weight add anything to the tone and playability?
            Because I don't say it

Guitars that are too lightweight often have balance issues IMO, and that would affect playability - especially onstage.

The lighter the wood, the warmer the tone should be. Denser wood = harsher and shriller tone (think maple).

Guess you've never played Swamp Ash then.

I have, actually, but not so much of a strat or ash guy.

But physically speaking, what I said is right. But I admit, I was mostly thinking of Mahogany when writing that. So, in accordance to joe: Mileage may vary!

FYI, there are both heavy and light ash.

SL2H cannot be too lightweight because it is maple neck-thru
maple is pretty dense and heavy wood, and having a solid chunk of maple in the center of the body obviously adds to the weight.
Well, compared to some LesPauls SL2H is a relatively lightweight but compared to say SG it's pretty heavy.

Yes, I took the liberty of weighing your guitar, and it came right up to 8.2 lbs on the digital scale

SL2Hs really aren't that light, I was surprised by how hefty my Trans Blue Soloist was...maybe because Trans colored models have a maple cap?

I don't think so, this maple foil can't be very heavy
