  • New Chlorine PC1 Strathead Arrives

Good Friday was good to me - got a two-'fer. In addition to my custom Charvel zebra, this arrived. I must say, it's got a nice quilt, excellent colors, and a great neck. One of the best of the new ones that I've seen so far.

For the screw counters: note the new neck plate. A revised font for the Jackson logo, and no address.

    Thanks again to Matt's Music!

Nice. I really like the subtle quilting. I know those exaggerated quilts are more sought after, but I think they look like ass. Same thing with flame....

Your on a roll man! That's a great looking guitar. Interesting about the neck plate with no address.

Very nice indeed - one day I will grab myself a PC1, but so far the money has always seemed to go in other directions!

I like the new font on the neck plate, but it looks odd with no address.....

Ya know, I think it's not really the wood itself. The figuring is very good. I suspect it's more a factor of the finish - this new version of chlorine is a darker shade of blue, and seems to "hide" the figuring more than the old color. It doesn't show off the center quite as well either. From pics, it looks like a light-to-dark blue burst. But there really is a fair share of aqua/green in the middle, like the "vintage" chlorine. Just not the same shade of color as before. And the finish just doesn't seem to come out at you quite as noticeably as the old version, or as consistently from different angles. It's cool - just different.

Pics don't do it justice - looks much better in person.

I read a while back in a post by Jacksonmarketingguy that the CS couldn't do the old chlorine process anymore. If I remember correctly, it had something to do with the chemicals in the finishing process. So, this is the new Chlorine.

Glad to see you're happy with the craftsmanship, since some of us are looking forward to the PC1 Strathead Flames limited run.

I wonder if the origional chlorine was aniline dye. Something in aniline dyes had been found to be a really nasty carcinigen or something, so it is no longer available in the states. There are other types of dye on the market that are not hazardous, that work just as well. *Maybe* the original chlorine was aniline, and the new chlorine is another type of dye, which could account for the slight difference in color as well.

                        Just a guess though.

                        Does look sharp though!!!
                        Postal!

Probably not, bro. Matt only had it for appx. 24 hours. Came in one day, I bought it, shipped the next day.
