  • Scalloped horn?

The CS quote form allows this option, but (excuse the newbie question) does anyone have photo of a WR1 with this? I'm also curious as to what a WR1 would like with a carved top body.

Well, some options in CS quote form are not automatically disabled if you choose something incompatible with them.

I mean, if you choose neck-thru you will still have scalloped heel option available, though it makes no sense.

And WR has scalloped horns by default

    Because I don't say it
    Doesn't mean I ain't thinking it

Actually my understanding is that the scalloped heel option still makes sense on a neckthru, because that´s essentially carving out half the body at the rear near the joint, making the entire thing slipper... much like this Fusion:

        D'oh!
Well, I'm going for an import then - DKMG. Carved top, Scalloped heel AND scalloped horns.

But not neckthru and not a warrior and Not USA quality... and yes there´s a difference .... but it´s your decision

But if I wanted a WR1 I think a DKMG is probably the last thing i´d consider as a subsitute...

I feel such a prat as i didn't know what a bloody scalloped horn was - i thought those were bevels. duh! I was only curious anyway. if I saw a carved top Warrior, it would be interesting to see just how big the scalloped horns looked. But remember we Brits are cheapskates and don't often have the ability to save up for wonderful USA guitars.

Those are bevels...to be honest I dunno what a Scalloped Horn is either, I think it means the back near the horn is scalloped for comfort? Or maybe those are the scallops and bevels are only on the sides and bottom?

The "scalloped horn" option mostly just applies to super-strat shaped guitars (Dinky, Soloist...probably Demon as well). Have a look through the gallery.

This guitar has no horn scallop:

This guitar has a scalloped lower horn:

This guitar has both horns scalloped (standard on archtops I believe, unless you want full body binding):

Edit: I think a more appropriate designation would be "bevelled horn" though.

Zerb might be comparing this style (as per your pic) with the older style of neckthru, which has a much more pronounced heel.

I think Zerb is referring to the Soloist Pro type of heel scallop.

I see, but for US Jackson it makes no sense. Surely there's some space to scallop, but upper fret access is superb on SL without it.
