  • Ke-1t

    Hi all,
kinda new around here, but visited this Board frequently though I never registered.
    Got a question right ahead:
What were the trans blue 2001 KE1-T going for back then?
Or in other words, would 1300$ be a good price for this one used in mint condition?
There's a pic of a similar one on the gallery here, just has a Duncan instead of the EMG.
I am looking for a Kelly so long now, it's harder to find good ones here in Germany, but I fell in love with this one:
I think I am going for it.

    Thanks for any info,

    cheers,
    Manuel.

That's a decent price for one of those in Europe - guitars tend to be cheaper in the US, and even if we buy from the USA, shipping and import taxes add a major chunk to the total.

I think 1300 is a good price for it if it is in great shape. and those are "kinda rare" overall arent they.

Indeed. If that were a KE2T, I'd be all over it.

Damn thats nice. Did all KE1T's come with quilted and bound tops? I've been having a bit of Kelly GAS latley. That is the perfect Kelly IMO. I'd get it for $1300.

The only store I ever saw selling these was Los Music in Corpus Christie Tx which has completely fallen off the map. Dunno what happened.
But using the wayback machine here's a sample of Amber Sunburst, Blue and Green

And from what I recall, not all were bound.

The production models were all bound bodies. Those other two were NAMM guitars, possibly prototypes of the final model.

Very cool! There aren't too many of these KE-1Ts out there. I actually own the other trans blue one that is in the gallery. Here's another pic of the body.

I bought this new in January 2001 from Los Music. They had it listed on Ebay along with the trans green one that is shown on there site. Since then I've only seen 1 other trans blue one and strangely enough it was listed on Ebay. I was trading emails with the seller at that time but he wouldn't give me the serial #. The seller told me he was selling it to someone in Europe. I wonder if this is the same one?

Can you let me know what the serial # is? I've been tracking KE-1Ts and KE-2Ts since I got mine. Like other people have said, all of them had binding except for the 2 NAMM pieces which were basically the prototypes for these guitars. Most of the ones that I know of have had trans quilt tops except for an all black one and a gun metal grey one. And they all came with a Duncan JB so the EMG that is in this one must be aftermarket.

I think that price is fair if it is in mint shape. I love mine - it is very comfortable to play (even with the flat top/non-bevel). If you like - grab it! You won't see too many more of those around.

Very free to send me a pm if you want any more info.

Yeah I saw yours in the Gallery John, I love that trans blue Top, sweet Axe!

Well, I missed the friggin Auction,
I wasn't at home when it ended, I could punch myself...
It sold for 1600$ actually, I think it's worth that price too.
I also think he put that EMG in it later.
The S/N# is:UO8636 so that would be Ontario 2000 then, though he stated it would've been built in 2001...

Anyways, thanks for the cool info guys, nice welcome.
